Consider this cost...
Most of my clients think that rent is the most important factor in choosing a new apartment. And it can be, but I think the most important factor is total cost.
And Rent is just one part of total cost. Total cost also considers:
- Cost of heating and cooling (and a newer apartment is often cheaper to cool)
- Location (remember gas prices ALWAYS seem to be rising)
- Car insurance can vary wildly depending on different zip codes
Just remember, to consider all the costs. And the biggest factor to me will always be safety. Never rent in an area where you don't feel safe.
